I'm a dentist who lives overseas but would like to say the front tooth fracture story makes no sense. A crack in a tooth doesn't just feel better after 2 weeks of painkillers if it was painful enough to seek a dentist to begin with. Pushing (techinical term is palpating) the tooth with a finger is a diagnostic tool to see how the tooth responds to pressure and flexion. If the fracture went even 1mm below the gumline (which is usually very difficult to detect and would explain the dentist taking multiple xrays to be cautious and assess it from several angles) then the tooth is sometimes unrestorable. Seven xrays doesn seem a bit excessive but the radiation dose of these is very low - similar to the radiation exposure of takigna long haul flight. Often crowning the tooth can prevent the crack propagating (spreading) but even a 'tiny tiny' crack can have ingress of bacteria to the pulp (nerve area) to kill off the tooth in time, though not always. It sounds to me as if you are annoyed that your bridgework isn't cosmetically pleasing and blame losing the tooth. Also, if you see 10 different dentists you would get 10 different treatment plans for that situation. There are no black and white answers to dental problems - the dentist sounded thorough and made the best judgement based on his findings at the time. ..

Beware or giving credibility to the rantings of people who can't even spell! On the other hand,if you want Harley Street standard dentistry for a fraction of the price, n a clean, modern local practice with friendly staff that put you at ease, then go and see this guy. The 'want something for nothing' brigade need not apply as this place is too good for you. Barry goes out of his way to help his patients, I myself called him out on Chrismas day and he said 'its not a problem'. He listens to his patients and goes the extra mile to achieve what they want. My only wish is that I found him before suffering at the hands of his so called competitors...

We need more dentists like this dedicated professional who lives and breathes dentistry. All my family have Barry Rimmer as their dentist and we all have great looking healthy teeth. My son had braces without having teeth taken out - something another Wigan dentist insisted was necessary - and now has a smile like a model. When my daughter was only 3 years old she had to have a front tooth taken out following an accident and Barry did it using a computerised injection system from America, which as far as I am aware no other local dentist has bothered to invest in. It was brilliant, no needles, no waiting for months for a general anaesthetic at the hospital, which no mother in her right mind would want to put a child through just to have a tooth out! My children are now teenagers and do not have any decay or stains and have never had a filling. It is not just the results but you really feel Mr Rimmer wants to do the very best for every patient and is not just about making pots of money to buy the latest porsche or ferrari which seems to be what motivates other dentists. ..

My teeth were awful - one even growing in the roof of my mouth! I was very self conscious of them but Barry promised me he'd sort them out! (I fondly referred to them as "hillbilly" teeth), but today my teeth are GORGEOUS! I can't stop smiling. I had years of wearing a brace but Barry put a "funky" one on so all my mates thought it was fab! I'm so pleased a went to him & I won't consider going anywhere else. A big thank you Barry xx..

A TRUE PROFESSIONAL! I've been a patient of Mr Rimmers for some 15 years and I've got the utmost respect & trust for him. I've had a fear of dentists for some years & each visit that I make here - he makes me feel relaxed and genuinely cares that I'm at ease. The treatment I have received has been top class! Even opening his practise on Boxing day one year cos I had an abcess. I felt awful dragging him out but he wouldn't hear of it! A credit to his peers, colleagues & his vocation. A man who truely loves what he does. ..

I cant rate this dentist highly enough. Outstanding service from the moment I walked through the door. Friendly, helpful, knowledgable staff put me at ease. I had been left with poor results as a result of orthodontic treatment as a child, and the dentist I had then extracted 4 healthy teeth, which I now know was not necessary but is still common practice. Dr Barry Rimmer has given me perfect straight white teeth with invisible braces. Noone even knew I was wearing braces! My confidence has gone through the roof. He has changed my life, I cant thank him enough. Whats more is I did not even have to travel into a city and pay top prices, he is affordable and local, what more can you ask?..

No words can describe what an awful nasty money grabbin jerk he is.
Since i was 14 i had braces fitted with him, when i got to 16 treatment had only 6 months left, i was still in education meaning i was still not able to pay. After my normal 4 week checkup i went, only to be told he was refusing to do my treatment from now on and i would either have to start paying for it (costing £100 for each visit from then on or if i wasn't willing to do that, he would remove them for £175. I asked him why he is doing this and on what grounds, he told me he was going private and is charging from now on. I told him that that was unfair due to the fact he started my treatment under the NHS and should finish it on that. When i said that he got rude, so i got up and left. I wrote to NHS about this and the main dentist people (forget there name sorry) and they forwarded the letter on to him, they also wrote back to me asking if they could publish this letter as mine wasn't the first complaint about Barry Rimmer. I got a reply from Barry Rimmer soon after with an apology about the removal charge and he would do it free of charge. But still no avail on continuing treatment. So 2 years he had wasted my time on these braces only to remove them with only 6 months of treatment left and now my teeth (at the age of 19 now) luckily have stayed and not moved back to ther original way. But hey still not the point. Hope this helps you all who are considering this idiot!..

This guy is a muppett!!!!!! I seriously would not take my dog to him (if I had one).
How he has not been struck off is beyond me but seriously, this guy ripped his finger from under my front left tooth when I was 17, I had a hairline fracture above the gumline and was in pain. Obviously, somebody testing with their finger how secure the tooth was and how much pain I was in was the last thing I wanted!!! Unfortunately, only then to be told the tooth would have to be removed after x7 or so xray's only to find a tiny tiny minute fracture above the gum line that left in with the assistance of pain killers would have been fine after 1 -2 weeks - Devastated!!!
I know have a bridge at the front which is discoloured from the rest of my teeth!!!..
